Posed in the Station Hall of the National Railway Museum, coupled to freight wagons.

On a miserable, misty and wet day at Goathland in the 1980s 1247 sets out for Pickering with the safety valves lifting.

A view between the frames of this Great Northern Railway saddle tank loco. here we see the crank axle with the big ends of the connecting rods either side of the eccentrics for the Stephenson link valve gear. Notice the prominent wedge for adjustment.
