When 99 was rebuilt after serving on the Black Mountain/Yancey RR, the builders plate was altered to match that of the one Jones was in.

This engine is not related to the Casey Jones accident. This engine is from the Clinchfield, a coal railroad...and is a classic Baldwin 4-6-0 with 63" drivers...Jones' worked for the Illinois Central...and rode to his death on a Rogers 4-6-0 with 69" which belonged to his employer. Jones' IC 382 was cut up in 1935.

The fact that the locomotive was built in 1905 might not be correct because Casey died in a crash with his locomotive #382 in 1900.
