Unmistakably British in outline, but a strange looking loco nontheless. It seems to be in some transitional state between the old fashioned low running plate designs earlier in the 20th century and the later high running plates. In particular notice how the running plate runs across the cylinders - and the valve gear, but there are still splashers above the running plate. The other odditiy is that the firebox tapers inwards towards the bottom to fit between the frames, but you'd expect a pacific to feature a wide firebox supported by the trailing truck. Maybe if they'd designed it a little later this wouldn't have been the case - or is it an extended 4-6-0 design?
