Dear Mr. Ninneman, I cannot tell you how much I appreciated your note (very little actually). The photo for Steptoe Valley No. 3 was taken inside the car shop at the Nevada Northern in East Ely, and was delivered there by truck in December 2010. Ergo, you could not have seen the locomotive elsewhere, two months ago, since it has been in East Ely for almost 11 months now. Additionally, the locomotive has not been converted to burn oil. It came from the factory as a coal burning locomotive, still has its firedoor, its grates, no oil reservoir or any sort, and no burners. So, wrong again. We do check our facts, which is fortunate. Otherwise I might have posted the inaccurate information you provided to our database. And for your information, the sources for this information are Jeff Terry, the photographer who provided the photo of the locomotive at the Nevada Northern, and Mark Bassett the director of the Nevada Northern Railway Museum.

The Steptoe #3 is NOT at the NNRy. It is still dismantled at Brighside yard on the Niles Canyon Railway of Fremont California! Check your facts! I saw her in peices last time I was there(which was 2 months ago!) And she converted to burn OIL!
