This engine has not operated scince 2011. Its just parked on a spur next to the highway. The crew says that it will return to service sometime in the next few years

I have a Great American Rail Journeys from PBS and it says 1926 Baldwin. I would like to know which year it was built.

i rode the line in 1998 and good old #7 was our engine was our engine although we only went to the half-way point because of a washout that occured further down the line and i also got soot in my hair

Boiler pressure is 200psi. not 180.

This loco is a special locomotive built in 1919. This locomotive was used in the Walt Disney TV series "Gunsmoke" and most recently, Steven Spielbergs TV series "Into the West." On the Black Hills Central, old #7 is so special it is only brought out once a week for the passenger runs.
