UP119 was put into service in 1979.  When it was first put into operation it was a fuel oil burner.  With environmental concerns, it was converted over to coal, which was the fuel in the original, approx. 1998.  It has 15 tons of tractive effort.  59 inch drivers, 30,000 lbs on drivers.  It operates between 130 and 145 lbs boiler pressure.  I am the fireman on that locomotive at the Golden Spike National Historic Site.

This engine was built by O'Connor Engineering in 1977-78.  Until 1991 it burned LPG (propane) but now it burns coal.
