Originally named Mary Ann while at the Enterprise Plantation in Patoutville Louisiana. While the Plantation still owns the engine, it is leased to Six Flags over Texas for a dollar a year. Six Flags renamed it General Sam Houston, then for a very short time Larry B Cochran, but now back to Sam Houston. the engine is operational and has been very dependable over the years. My only negative on the engine is it's engineers valve timing is very badly off, but otherwise it is fun to operate.

The "Alco-Dickson Construction Number List" indicates that Construction Number 1280 (Road Number not specified) was shipped to "W. W. Bierse" during October of 1901. The unit was originally built as an 0-4-4T with a "Specified" weight of 28,000 pounds (This is not necessarily the "Actual" weight). Cylinders were 9" x 14". Drivers were 30".
