JS 8081 despite the rust bucket state she is in, is another of the remaining last 13 JS Class locomotives still operating and working at Sandaoling in Xinjiang, China today as of 2023. An interesting fact that by 1988 when the wrighting was on the wall for mainline steam locomotive construction in China, the last JS Class 2-8-2 locomotives that were built at Datong Works in 1988 were sold and put to use on local and industrial railways all across China, and one No. 8419 which was among the last of them was built in 1988 was to be the first Chinese built steam locomotive exported new to the United States of America for use on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad in Iowa in, where it still operates today as the only JS Class 2-8-2 out in that part of the world today.
