JS 8167 is another of the remaining last 13 JS Class locomotives still operating and working at Sandaoling in Xinjiang, China today as of 2023. All of the JS fleet at Sandaoling Coal Mine are all ex China Rail having been bought second hand by the mine following the end of mainline steam in China. All 13 including JS 8167 are well maintained despite the state they are in and as far from reports say not many diesels have arrived at Sandaoling as the mines are due to close soon, which is why steam still hangs on for the time being at least.
