Rode the White Pass train in September 2013. #52 is still in the Skagway Yard, right in the middle of all the action !

Retired in 1936. It was recovered from Taku in 1964, but unfortunately damaged in a roundhouse fire in 1969. It has been in the yard at Skagway since 1971.

The "Alco-Brooks Construction Number List" indicates that the "Utah & Northern" ordered 23 Locomotives (Road Numbers 23 through 45) from the "Brooks Works", receiving 22 of them (One of the last two units, Road Number 44 or 45, Construction Number 800, was sold to the "Mississippi River & Bonne Terre Railway"). Unfortunately, no shipping dates were recorded in the List for any of these units. Other sources indicate that they were shipped during the 1881, or so, time period. All of the units had 14" x 18" Cylinders. Their Driver Diameters were 41" (Except, possibly, No.'s 25 through 29, which did not have their Driver Diameters recorded). Construction Numbers and (Road Numbers) are as follows: 494-495(23-24), 504-505(25-26), 514-515 (27-28), 520(29), 529-530(30-31), 536(32), 554 & 559(33-34), 562 & 566-567(35-36-37), 579(38), 587(39), 597 & 605(40-41), 626-627(42-43) and 800-801(44-45). Construction Number 800, Road Number 44 or 45, was sold to the "Mississippi River & Bonne Terre Railway".

I would disagree with the previous input as to Serial No. and U&N Nos.  According to the more recent update of Mr. Pitchard's research at http://www.utahrails.net/pitchard/pitchard-un-uw-unev-oslun-osl-ng.php the Brroks serial No. is 567, the original U&N No. is 37, and the 1885 re-numbering was 94.
