As the fireman of Shay Number 7 from September 2nd through September 4th, I am proud to report that the locomotive ran flawlessly all three days, and will continue operation at the museum on holiday weekends for years to come!

As a young boy I was there when they brought the Shay in. My dad and I were members of what was a small club back then. The picture of the Shay brought back a flood of memories. This picture is vintage picture, I'm guessing it was taken right after the first restoration (70's)because the man standing next it is was one of the fireman/engineers (Herb Garity) who died in the 70's. He was one hell of a guy! If anyone has any vintage pics of Hesston please let me know as I have none. Mom,dad, and my brother are gone I am all thats left of the family I hope to find pics of the family they were all at Heston during the late 60's and 70's If you have pics of the train robberies the younger members used to stage in the 70's I'm one of the masked bandits on horseback, bet you couldn't tell the other three bandits were girls. Would kill for a picture of Vic he was the head engineer and leader of the club in those days even if John Edris didn't think so! LOL Would love to hear from any of the old members if there are still around. I told you it brought back a flood of memories, thanks for listeing. please contact me at "hotrodderz@yahoo.com" if you have any pictures to share.
