The name board on her side reads "Peppersass". It aqquired this unusual name as, when first built, she looked very much like a bottle of pepper sauce. When pronounced with a New England accent, "sauce" came out "sass", and the name stuck.

This locomotive involved in a fatal accident at Mt Washington in 1929, on its last run.  The locomotive was wrecked and was put back together later.
