Dale W Fickés gives the loco history and numbering as follows: OeBB(NOLB) No. 298.52 was produced for the NÖLB as No. 6 (1898 - 2008) then as No. U.2 until 1922, when it became BBÖ No. U.52 until 1938. DRB and later ÖStB ran it as No. 99 7818 until 1953, whereupon it became ÖBB No. 298.52, inherited by its current owners the ÖGEG at Grünberg on the Steyrtalbahn.
