Build number was Krauss 3356, NOT 3357. Yv 2 is 3357 and Yv 3, number 3358. All three locomotives are still extant.

598.01 (Yv 1) was delivered to, and ran as kkStB No. Yv.1 (1896 - 1918), subsequently the DÖStB (1918 - 1919); ÖStB (1919 - 1921); and BBÖ (1921 - 1938) before being absorbed into the DRB as No. 99 901 (1938 - 1945), a number which it kept under the auspices of the ÖStB (1945 - 1953). Only with its ownership by ÖBB from 1953 did it gain its current number, 598.01
