Delivered to the BBÖ in 1920 as No. 629.43, this locomotive became DRB No. 77 228 in 1938, subsequently ÖStB 1945 through to 1953, before being renumbered to 77.28 by the ÖBB.

77.28 was plinthed at the main gate of her last home depot Linz till 1995, when she was acquired by the Austrian Society for Railway History.

Since 2007 the loco is operational again after a major overhaul at Cluj/Romania and is being used on the societies special trains throughout Austria as well as on the societies heritage railway between Timelkam and Ampflwang.

The loco is stationed at Ampflwang.
