This engine had one of the most extensive rebuilds done to an engine ever done in the country to make it operational. They unsealed the boiler plates from each other, and ended up riveting them together, essentially converting the engine from a lap joint boiler to a riveted boiler, using the original!

The Glenbrook has not been in its display location in Carson City for at least 20 years. It is undergoing a prolonged restoration at NSRM in Carson City. The tender is complete and on display as is the chassis. The boiler and cab are missing. It is planned to complete the restoration of the Glenbrook when the McKeen car project is completed but funds are lacking in the FY2009/2010 budget to do this.

If I'm not mistaken, the NSRM is restoring this locomotive. It is sitting dissasembled in there shops awaiting a new boiler. The museum bought a boiler, but sadly it did not fit the frame.
