81 just passed her steam test. change status to operational.

81 has been out of service for repairs since late 2023. It is scheduled to be operational by spring 2026

On September 18th, 2021, the Nevada Northern Railway Museum announced via its Facebook page that Nevada Northern 2-8-0 No. 81 has officially returned to service after completing a test run under steam.

The locomotive is being restored and is expected to return to service in October of this year. Please change status to restoration.

The restoration of this engine has hit a milestone as of this past week. They just fired up the boiler for the first time. It will only be a matter of time until it, too joins 40 and 93.

I saw engine 81 today. They have put its restoration on hold until engine 93 is back in service. It is great to see the possibility of this locomotive being put back in service.

This engine is currently getting restored. They are hoping to bring it back to life in 2017
